TTCL is an integrated Thai Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and investment company, with Japanese and Asian roots. The company has been active as integrated EPC company in the petrochemical and chemical industries, and has invested in several power generation projects. In 2017, TTCL has started investing into biomass renewable energy projects and is currently setting-up a black pellet business. TTCL is a shareholder of Blackwood since 2020. Eskom
Eskom generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Additional power stations and major power lines are being built to meet rising electricity demand in South Africa. Eskom is planning to include biomass as part of its renewable fuel mix for power generation. It has identified torrefaction as a key enabling technology for biomass co-firing. www.eskom.co.za

Boreal Bioenergy
Boreal Bioenergy Corporation (BBC), is a British Columbia based company committed to renewable and sustainable forestry-based energy production. The Company has plans well underway to construct and operate torrefied wood pellet plants in several locations across British Columbia and Alberta. SECTOR project
The European FP7 project SECTOR (Production of Solid Sustainable Energy Carriers from Biomass by Means of TORrefaction) has successfully ended in December 2015 after 4 years of research and was one of the major EU supported programs to shorten the time to market for torrefaction technologies. Within SECTOR, 21 partners from 9 European countries worked jointly together to advance the state of the art of torrefaction as one of the major technologies to achieve the EU renewable energy targets. sector-project.eu

Torrefaction 2.0
Blackwood participated in a consortium to develop the application of torrefied biomass in the decentralized heating market. This project was supported by a grant from the Dutch Province of Gelderland. www.gelderland.nl
